Most importantly the
thrift store provides sheltered victims and their children
with clothing and other household items they may need
- free of charge.
Providing 24-hour emergency
shelter and other services to the entire violent family
is extremely costly. Unfortunately grants do not cover
all the necessary expenses. For example, in fiscal
year 14-15 the Domestic Abuse Council, Inc. spent $84,987 on utilities and $45,341 on maintenance for our facilities! That equals $130,328 just to keep the doors open. That does not allow for any programs or services. With our thrift shop revenues and private cash donations we plan to close the financial gaps.
